My path to Reiki was perfectly laid out for me. I just needed to recognize it of course. I have an Arabian horse who has been my guiding spiritual light and has sacrificed much of himself to help me on my journey.
He managed to injure himself to the point of needing surgery and then months of stall rest. If you know the Arabian breed you will know they can be high spirited and a lot of energy. Being stall bound was the last thing my guy wanted.
During the second month of stall rest for him and me almost being hurt while tending his injuries I knew something had to give. A month before his accident I had been surfing books on Amazon when the word Reiki popped into my view. I poked around, found a book on Reiki and Animals, and promptly ordered it. During that second month of stall rest it occurred to me that I had this resource. I browsed through it and quickly discovered I needed to find someone attuned to Reiki.
At the time I had been volunteering at a children’s therapeutic program with horses for over a year. Shortly after my discovery I casually mentioned to a woman I had worked with for this entire time that I needed to find a Reiki Master, and to my amazement she turned to me and said she was one.
I immediately set up a session for my horse. She gave me a discounted rate for the session as a courtesy. When I say the session was nothing short of amazing I am not exaggerating. Not only did my guy respond favorably and explain a lot to me through her, but I myself had healing occur. I was hooked! BUT I am cheap. Two sessions in and I am trying to figure out how to become attuned so I can do Reiki on him myself.
Next “coincident” comes in. I make an appointment to use a gift certificate for a massage. I request a woman I have been to a couple of times before. During my session I notice she is doing what looks like Reiki. I question her and she confirms my suspicions. I then casually mention I would like to get attuned.
Next thing I know she is reaching out to me and offering to attune me. She had given up teaching years earlier and is just as surprised as I am by her offer. I jump on it!
So, what started out as a way for me to help my horse has now turned into a lifestyle and passion for me. It has brought healing and peace to me and my family at such a level. I enjoy teaching it. I enjoy watching my kids show others, and use it themselves. I enjoy using it on animals, places, and in situations that need some help.
