Trusting Your Inner Voice: A Path to Authenticity and Confidence

Trusting Your Inner Voice: A Path to Authenticity and Confidence

by mystic | Apr 10, 2025 | Healing, Meditation, Wellness

In a world filled with noise and distractions, finding clarity in your own voice can be a challenge. Last week, during several animal communication sessions, I connected with incredible beings who imparted profound wisdom for their humans. One powerful message...
Do you let yourself rest? Yesterday my husband an Do you let yourself rest?

Yesterday my husband and I took a completely spontaneous trip to the shore.

We decided Friday night to go, totally on a whim.

And as we were driving, I briefly started thinking about all the things that “had” to get done this weekend.

Then I caught myself and asked a different question:

Is the world going to end if these things are not done by Monday?

The immediate answer was no.

And that was it.

I let it go.

Years ago, I would have let that list dampen my mood.

I would have been physically there but mentally running through everything waiting for me at home.

I would have worried about what needed to get done instead of fully receiving the day in front of me.

But yesterday, I let myself be present.

The weather was beautiful.
My husband and I had great conversations.
And the day ended up being exactly what I did not even realize I needed.

I think so many of us are programmed to keep going.

To be productive.
To do what is “right.”
To handle the list first.
To earn rest before we allow ourselves to receive it.

But rest matters.

Presence matters.

Joy matters.

And sometimes the thing that looks like a distraction is actually the thing that brings you back to yourself.

Maybe your only job today is to breathe a little deeper and let yourself receive the moment you are actually in.

I share reflections like this often through my emails for those learning to trust themselves and come back to themselves in everyday life. Link in bio

One of the things I was reminded oft when I starte One of the things I was reminded oft when I started taking better care of myself was how many other things would begin changing too.

Not just physically.

Emotionally.
Mentally.
Relationally.

As I started paying more attention to my body, stress levels, routines, eating habits, and overall well-being, I also started noticing how often I overrode myself to keep things easier for everyone else.

I realized how often I:
said yes when I wanted to say no,
pushed through exhaustion,
ignored what my body needed,
or adjusted myself to avoid disappointing people.

And honestly?

Some people were not thrilled when those patterns started changing.

Because when you stop abandoning yourself, other people sometimes have to adjust too.

I think that is the part of growth we do not talk about enough.

Real change is not always just about the habit itself.

Sometimes it is about learning that you are allowed to take yourself seriously too.

Tiny changes still change things.

Especially the quiet internal ones.

Sometimes clarity starts with better questions. N Sometimes clarity starts with better questions.

Not pressure.
Not forcing.

Just taking a breath and slowing down long enough to check in with yourself honestly.

Here are 5 questions I come back to when something feels off:

• What feels heavy?
• What keeps repeating?
• What drains me?
• What am I tolerating?
• What would feel lighter?

I have found honest awareness often becomes the first step toward change.

Which question hit hardest?

Spring riding season is back which means one very Spring riding season is back which means one very important thing:

Dicey is feeling spicy.
And I am once again being reminded that I absolutely do not bounce like I used to.

One thing horses do very well is keep you humble.

The second you think:
I am calm, grounded, and fully present today…

your horse immediately lets you know otherwise.

Apparently overthinking counts as an energy too.

Thankfully Dicey likes to keep me emotionally accountable.

One of the things I did not fully expect when I st One of the things I did not fully expect when I started paying more attention to my health and listening to my body was how uncomfortable it made some other people.

Not because I was asking for anything outrageous.

But because I started putting boundaries around things like:

when I ate,
what I ate,
where I ate,
how much I was willing to overextend myself,
and what actually felt supportive for me physically and emotionally.

And sometimes that meant other people had to adjust too if they wanted my company.

Not everyone liked that.

I think many of us are taught that taking care of ourselves should never inconvenience anyone else.

But real self-care is not always convenient.

Sometimes choosing yourself changes patterns.
Expectations.
Dynamics.
And honestly, that can feel uncomfortable for everyone involved at first.

But I have learned that constantly abandoning yourself to keep everyone else comfortable comes with a cost too.

Sometimes self-care disappoints other people.

And sometimes that is still the healthier choice.

You are allowed to choose yourself too.

Sometimes we already know what needs to change… w Sometimes we already know what needs to change…

we’re just afraid of what changing it might require.

Afraid of disappointing people.
Afraid of uncertainty.
Afraid of making the wrong choice.
Afraid of outgrowing what feels familiar.

But staying the same can become exhausting too.

What is one thing you are no longer tolerating the way you used to?

Let me know so I can cheer you on.

Small steps done consistently create big change. Small steps done consistently create big change.

This has become one of the mottos I come back to over and over again in my own life.

Especially when the comparison talk starts creeping in.

When it feels like I should be further ahead.
Doing more.
Changing faster.
Making bigger moves.

But honestly, some of the biggest changes in my life have happened through small consistent shifts repeated over time.

Not dramatic overhauls.
Not perfection.
Not forcing myself into burnout.

Just:
small choices,
small boundaries,
small mindset shifts,
small moments of choosing differently again and again.

And last night during our Whispers of Knowing Foundations Community Hour, it was so beautiful hearing the wins members were sharing because all of them started with small steps too.

Saying yes.
Pausing before responding.
Noticing nudges.
Trusting themselves a little more.
Allowing themselves to slow down enough to actually notice what they were feeling.

I think we underestimate how powerful consistency can be because small steps rarely feel exciting in the moment.

But over time?

They can completely change the direction of your life.

Tiny changes still count.

One thing animals constantly remind me of is how m One thing animals constantly remind me of is how much emotional energy affects connection.

When I ride Dicey, he immediately notices when I am distracted, overwhelmed, stressed, or not fully present.

I can still have emotions.
I can still have things on my mind.
But if I am completely disconnected from the moment, he reflects it almost instantly.

Animals notice more than we think.

And honestly, I think many of us move through life carrying so much internally that we stop noticing how disconnected from ourselves we have become.

Sometimes feeling overwhelmed is not weakness.

Sometimes it is simply a sign that we need to reconnect with ourselves again.

Presence changes more than we realize.

I share reflections like this often through my emails and communities for those learning to reconnect with themselves in a grounded, supportive way.
